What’s Going On?
Oh no! You were all set for your Disney Plus marathon when you got that dreaded error message. Disney Plus won’t load or play content on your Firestick. Talk about a buzzkill! But don’t cancel your plans just yet. We’ve got some simple troubleshooting tips to get you streaming in no time.
Why Disney Plus Isn’t Working
Before we fix the issue, let’s look at some common reasons Disney Plus is having problems on Firestick:
- Slow internet connection speeds (you need at least 3 Mbps for SD, 9 Mbps for HD)
- Temporary Disney Plus service outage
- Account login error on your end
- Corrupted app cache files
- Using an older, incompatible Firestick model
Any of these can prevent Disney+ from working properly. But they’re all easy fixes.

Step 1: Check Your Internet Speed
It takes decently fast internet speeds to maintain buffer-free Disney Plus streaming in HD. To test if yours makes the cut:
- Navigate to Settings > Network > Check Connection on your Firestick
- Run a quick speed test
- Make sure you have at least 9 Mbps
If your speeds fall below this, try connecting to a different network or contacting your ISP. Slow internet is usually the main culprit for streaming issues!
Step 2: Restart Your Firestick
If internet speeds check out okay, quickly reboot your device:
- Press and hold the center Play button and circular Menu button for 10-15 seconds
- Or go to Settings > My Fire TV > Restart
Once it restarts, open Disney Plus and see if that alone fixed things!
Step 3: Clear Disney Plus Cache
If it still won’t run, corrupted app cache files may be the issue:
- Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications
- Select Disney Plus
- Choose Force Stop, then Clear Cache
- Restart your Firestick again
- Relaunch Disney Plus
That should force the app to clear out any problematic cached data.

Step 4: Log Out and Back Into Disney Plus
Login issues can also block access. To eliminate that as the possibility:
- In Disney Plus, navigate to your Profile Icon > Account > Log Out
- Complete close and restart the Disney Plus app
- Log back into your Disney Plus account
This will refresh your login credentials and permissions.
And with that, Disney Plus should be up and running perfectly again on Firestick! Now you can finally settle in and continue that Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, or National Geographic marathon!
